Robert Crowder is founder and President of The Benefits Trust, a leading Canadian Third Party Administrator. Robert has over 28 years of experience serving pension and employee benefits clients. In 1994, he founded The Benefits Trust as a Third Party Administrator serving small and mid-sized business across Canada. Through Robert Crowder’s dedication and leadership, The Benefits Trust has grown into the successful benefits provider that it is today.Robert continues to give back to the industry and is regularly called upon to share his expertise as a speaker and educator across Canada.

Mike Ignatz, B.A.

Business Development Associate
Mike Ignatz has worked in a number of capacities at The Benefits Trust, including client administration and claims adjudication since he joined the team in 2005. He now works directly with advisors to help create customized solutions for their clients.Mike is also the head of the anti-fraud unit and an active member of the Canadian Health Care Anti-fraud Association, an organization committed to detecting, preventing, and prosecuting healthcare fraud in Canada. In his spare time he plays with his kids, plays guitar, plays hockey, and lifts heavy things when he hasn’t injured himself.

Francis Ignatz, CMA, CPA

Vice President Finance & Administration

With twenty years of experience in employee benefits underwriting and analysis, Francis brings tremendous financial leadership and expertise to The Benefits Trust. Prior to The Benefits Trust, Francis was Vice President of AFM Hospitality Corporation, and Regional Management at The Brick Warehouse, responsible for finance and administration services.

Francis is an alumni of Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, and holds a Certified Management Accountant and a Chartered Professional Accountant designation. He is an enthusiastic supporter of entrepreneurial activity, providing consultative expertise to small businesses.

Clare Winstanley, B.A., CEBS

Underwriter/Business Development Associate
Following 5 years of experience working with paramedical providers, and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sociology from the University of Toronto, Clare Winstanley joined The Benefits Trust in 2001.
Since then, Clare has developed expertise in group underwriting and plan review, and has formed strong broker and insurance carrier relationships. Clare works closely with Francis Ignatz and they are collectively responsible for new business underwriting, plan costing, and group renewals.

Tina Iida

New Groups Facilitator
Having previously worked in the Social Service and Municipal Government sectors, Tina brought her client service experience to The Benefits Trust in 2004. Since then, she has been building relationships with clients, advisors, and insurance partners across the country, specializing in implementing new benefits plans. She is also instrumental for training new employees at The Benefits Trust.
