Pan-Canadian Pricing Reduces Generic Drug Pricing Across the Country

The Pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) is a joint initiative by Canada’s provinces and territories to achieve a better value for generic drugs in Canada.

As a result of recent bargaining from pCPA, the price of the following fourteen generic drugs has been reduced to 18% of the equivalent brand name drug:

1. Clopidogrel – Plavix®
2. Gabapentin – Neurontin®
3. Metformin – Glucophage®
4. Olanzapine – Zyprexa®, Zyprexa Zydis®
5. Atorvastatin Calcium – Lipitor®
6. Ramipril – Altace®
7. Venlafaxine Hydrochloride – Effexor®
8. Amlodipine – Norvasc®
9. Omeprazole – Losec®
10. Rabeprazole Sodium – Pariet®
11. Simvastatin – Zocor®
12. Citalopram – Cipralex®
13. Pantoprazole – Pantoloc®
14. Rosuvastatin – Crestor®

This is good news for Canadians who want to maximize their drug benefit dollars.
